Engineering meets art
With a passion for blending technology and creativity, we also bring our engineering expertise to artistic projects, turning visionary concepts into reality. Presented below are some of the many successful collaborations with the well-known German artist Tobias Rehberger.
Weather house, cuckoo clock
- Vitra, Fondation Beyeler
- 2016
The idea and design for the installation came from the well-known German artist Tobias Rehberger. His creative vision needed engineering support, and we delivered. ArtiSol provided a technical solution for a weather house and an abstract cuckoo clock, both of which were presented and still stand today along the Rehberger-Weg.
Neon
- Multiple clients
- 2016
ArtiSol played a key role in numerous “Neon” projects, where lights were programmed to dance and behave in captivating ways. While lighting itself isn’t our area of expertise, we excel in mastering its control. We engineered custom control units that brought neon art to life, turning visions into vivid, dynamic displays.
Le Ghost
- Staatsarchiv Zuerich
- 2019
“For me, an archive is something you can almost say is a bit haunted. It is where old creatures are recorded and described in manuscripts.”
— Tobias Rehberger
We contributed to Tobias Rehberger’s vision by helping design “a ghost” that flows seamlessly through 111 lights, illuminating the Staatsarchiv Zuerich, Switzerland.
Illuminate the Path
- Fraunhofer institute Freiburg
- 2020
The artwork, titled “… right now, over me,” features 65 spherical lights of varying sizes, spread across the building. Inspired by the “optical table” used in experiments, the lights are arranged in eight strands of different lengths, each with its own color. ArtiSol developed the control unit that directs the flow of light signals through the strands, creating a colorful display when they converge in the foyer during the daily 10:30 AM coffee break.
Illuminate the Beat
- Kunstmuseum Stuttgart
- 2022
One of our most ambitious projects to date, ArtiSol crafted a seamless dialogue between music and light. We designed an interactive experience where anyone could connect to the speakers, and the light installation pulsed in harmony with the sound. A true showcase of seamlessly blending our programming, electrical, and mechanical engineering into a harmonious creation.
